NATIONAL ELECTION SESSION
22 JULY 2023
On July 22, 2023, the Commission of Inquiry will hold its fourth session ahead of the July 23, 2023, national election. The findings of the United Nations, the Commission of Inquiry, and the Grassroots National Election Monitoring group highlight the harsh reality that the upcoming elections will not be considered free, fair, or legitimate due to the long-standing and systematic human rights and rule of law abuses by Hun Sen.
During the session, we will have Michael J. Weaver, a legal intern from Columbia University, addressing the four crucial aspects you need to know about the Cambodian National Elections of 2023. We are also honored to have a keynote address by Kian Vesteinsson, Senior Research Analyst of Freedom House, who will tackle the Cambodia 2023 national election crisis. Additionally, Seyla Nhean, Coordinator of the Khmer Urgent Action Network, will shed light on the signs of hope emerging within the Cambodian community, which will no longer remain silent to Hun Sen's abuses. Mehgan Andrzejweski will discuss the immediate advocacy steps and what to expect in the upcoming months and sessions.
